Reading Stars v Watford Badshahs Cricket Club on Sun 13 Jul 2014 at 13:00
Watford Badshahs Cricket Club Won
Match report
Match was set, probably the most eagerly awaited game of the season...
The conditions were for batting at first, but as we prepared to get ready to bat, we had slight drizzle for 20 mins, which soaked up the wicket. The fresh rain was only going to aid their bowlers to skid it through.
The opening went in and started off well, from the first over, as they were gifted wides. But there just was not enough intent, especially the one that was anticipated. Anyway as soon as one person fell, Abbas (C) stepped up and walked into the middle, and then shortly after Sannan fell, after trying to make an aggressive statement
So in went Jeff, Abbas and Jeff's partnership, brought a little life into the run rate, and the manhattan began to grow healthier and healthier.
Until Jeff fell victim to short mid wicket.
There was a lot of hope from Sardar this time around, but he was unable to walk off the egg, which he was sitting. And Hameed also quickly joined him. It seems as though they passed it on to each other.
Then Kashi held his ground and played his shots with intent refusing to go down without a fight, with Raza not out on the other end, Badshahs innings came to a disappointing end.
131/10
And then came the fielding, there were too many people who were under pressure, and literally the whole team was advising the captain. Everyone had the equal hunger to win this game, at any cost.
Mashooq was given the new ball, and Nadir Mehmood (The Pro, Currently being investigated by the committee) could not move. Just leaking 3 runs from that over. And then on the other side came Sardar, who was to hold up his hand, but leaked 13 runs, although this could have been salvaged, but unfortunately Nadir (The Pro) was dropped whilst he was on 8 runs.
Then Kashi was introduced in to the attack, followed by another tight over from Mashooq only leaking 6 runs. Although his first over was expensive he managed to squeeze a wicket. And then Rehman had a go at Nadir (The Pro), he also dispatched him 11 runs in one over. And then came Kashi again, on his first ball Nadir (The Pro) launches a rocket straight towards midwicket, it was high and long... Ashiq gave it a chase from long on, to try and save the boundary... the catch was impossible, but Ashiq did not give up the chase... Arms fully stretched out, the ball lands in his hand and he completes the catch. Kashi is jubilant the whole of the Badshahs realised this is the chance.
Overall great bowling by Kashi and Mashooq, well backed up by Sardar, Jeff and Rehman.
And Badshahs won the game by 7 runs
